For our first bus tour of the year, we have planned a visit to the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in Aachen. The Fraunhofer IPT develops next-generation production systems that combine resource conservation with network-based optimization. It provides sustainable manufacturing and innovative service solutions to support it. With 535 employees and modern research facilities covering 9,000 square meters (including 5,000 square meters of laboratories and machine rooms), Fraunhofer IPT is one of the leading innovation partners in the manufacturing industry.

In the field of digitalization, Fraunhofer IPT focuses on seven key themes:
-Sensor systems and data acquisition
-Interfaces and connectivity
-Data synchronization and middleware
-Data modeling and data analysis
-Digital twins in the product lifecycle
-IT architecture and cybersecurity
-Database business models

Target Industries: Fraunhofer IPT partners with companies across diverse manufacturing sectors including automotive, aerospace, biotechnology/pharmaceuticals, energy, mechanical/plant engineering, medical technology, and optical/electronic technology. This tour will explore how digital technologies drive innovation on the production floor. We look forward to an active exchange of views between Fraunhofer IPT and our members on the current challenges and future potential of digitalization in manufacturing, from data collection to process optimization.

There will be presentations on the digitalization of production and the ICNAP (International Center for Networked, Adaptive Production) community. Following this, you will have the opportunity to see in detail various projects, including manufacturing technologies for turbo machinery, the use of 5G technology on the production floor, and the latest production quality inspection methods.

Following the tour, we will host a networking session over lunch. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to deepen exchanges among experts and fellow participants. We sincerely look forward to your participation.
